Acting I & II

Have you always wanted to try acting but never taken the plunge? This class is for you. Acting level one is for beginners with little to no acting experience. We know it can seem intimidating, but don't worry, you'll be so busy having fun you'll forget all about your nerves.

And then, for those who have completed Acting level one, or have had some training elsewhere, there is Acting II. We'll delve a little deeper into different acting methods, and even give writing our own short play a shot.

Classes for Seniors

Acting is fun, of course, but it also has other benefits. From a study done by the Mather Institute on the benefits of theatre arts for older adults: "The first main area reviewed was theater’s impact on health and well-being. Here, studies have shown decreased anxiety and loneliness, increased sense of value and purpose, and other emotional benefits including fun, happiness, and a sense a freeing of the imagination. Cognitive benefits include improvements in memory, word generation, and comprehension and problem solving." Stay tuned for class dates. Voice Over Level 1

Are you an actor looking to try your hand at voice over? Or maybe you'renot an actor but everyone tells you that you have the right voice for voiceover. Why not give it a try? With so much content being created all the time, and today's technology that makes it possible to record from home for clients all over the world, more and more people are finding success in voice over.
Is it easy? No. Will you have to work hard to get good and then to get clients? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely... provided you develop your skills and keep at it. Click here for more info on this class running January/February, 2024.

Meet The Team

Ted is a singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, who has been involved in almost every aspect of the audio industry: from working in recording studios to sound system design to live performance. Ted was the pro audio specialist for PSB Integration (formerly Advance Pro) for 20 years. His most recent album, Once Around, is available for purchase on iTunes, and for streaming on Apple Music and Spotify. In our Voice Over class, Ted will be discussing: recording hardware, software, selection and use of microphones, booth setup, recording, and audio processing.

Ted ParnellAudio Specialist

Barbara is a theatre actor, director, producer, singer, voice over artist, and writer having performed in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamboat, All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten, Dear World, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Crimes of the Heart, Our Town, Opening Night, and Jesus Christ Superstar (the last four she directed as well) and many more. Other directing experience includes: Table Manners for the RMTC Master Playwrights Festival, Recycled for the Fringe, short works from Generation Nexxt for Sarasvàti Productions’s FemFest, assistant directing If You Give a Mouse a Cookie for MTYP, and assistant directing Educating Rita for both RMTC’s Mainstage and touring productions. For the last few years she has been focusing on screenwriting and is working on her forth feature film script; an adaptation of the award winning book 'Motherless' by Gabriel Horn, to which Brain Lint Productions has optioned the film rights. Brain Lint Productions was formed in the late 90’s to produce a rather terrible version of Sam Shepard’s Angel City. Since then the productions have gotten better (honest), and we have branched out into voice over, tv/film production, and now theatre education.
